~ Our serene bedroom- sans TV, of course)~
When we moved into our apartment, we did a lot of work to make it comfortable and very “us”. When it came to our bedroom, we agreed that making it a truly restful and cozy room was most important. Naturally, I was super glad my boyfriend and I were on the same page when it came to overall decor. For our bedroom, we chose light colored wood floors, flowy white linen curtains, a white comforter (designed by my dear friend), lots of plants and best of all- our amazing blue/grey matte paint (it’s blue when it’s sunny and a pale grey when it’s cloudy). We still have some work to do such as adding 2 great pieces of artwork above our bed and staining our vintage furniture a light grey/charcoal but for now, it does the trick.

Saturday was my birthday and what better way to celebrate than with my boyfriend and some friends? The day started with brunch at Le Barricou in Williamsburg and the festivities continued into the evening. I wanted a simple outfit that could easily be dressed up with some heels and a great bag. This outfit did the trick! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

I hope you are all having a great week so far. The weather in NY has been nothing less than spectacular and the entire city is buzzing with Spring Fever. Here are a few things adding a little sunshine to my week:

~ Sandwich with roasted veggies: broccoli, green cauliflower and zucchini- and jalapeño hummus~
For me, Saturday was filled with daytime errands and chores. At about 2, I realized that I had yet to eat lunch. I stopped and thought about my leftover roasted veggies from the night before and this is what I came up with…. A surprisingly spicy, healthy lunch on the run and coincidentally, just the right colors for St. Patty’s Day!
~ The Storefront of the new Zara on 5th Avenue~
I’m more than a little obsessed with the new Zara store on 5th Avenue. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to check it out on (coincidentally) opening day! I loved the amazing branches decorating the outside of the store and everything inside was just as great. The layout of the store resembles an upscale department store and the color stories broken out into sections makes it a dream to shop. All I can say is that you should visit this new location- Pronto!

I love spring time, maybe it’s because I was born in spring, but I find it to be an exciting time for renewal and change and I’m definitely looking forward to longer days and sunny weather. Although I did not stop for a moment this past weekend, I already have my list of springtime to-do’s including outdoor brunches, and long evenings with friends enjoying cocktails and catching up. In the mean time, here are a few pics that have me feeling happy that Spring is in the air!

I’ve been pretty busy lately (hence, the missed blog entry yesterday), but in all the craziness, I’ve been trying my best to take at least a little “me” time to stay sane. In the mean time, here are a few things that have made my week a little brighter so far…

~Creatively display different types of plants on various rows of shelving~
When we first moved into our apartment, the one thing we both knew for sure is that we wanted lots of plants scattered throughout. I found this a bit intimidating because I hardly ever cared for plants before and any attempt at it was, what I would call, unsuccessful at best. Beginning to care for plants can be comparable to preparing your first pot roast or baking your first cake- scary until you finally do it. With this in mind, I headed down to our local florist, a little Italian man, who recommended the best indoor plants and told me the secrets to keeping them alive and healthy. Here are a few photos of the plants in our bedroom. I knew I wanted to display them on shelves. These were the perfect choice, but they were unpainted, natural wood. I painted them white to fit our decor just right.

Last night, I decided to keep plans with an old friend despite the rainy weather and rush hour craziness in NY. With no set plans on where we were going, we popped into an unexpected place in a less visited part of the city solely out of convenience and a desire for some catching up. We ordered up a couple cocktails, shared some lite bites and called it an early night. Sometimes, it’s just what a girl needs…
